At the start of the day children should come in quietly, get their equipment (pen, pencil, ruler, whiteboard, reading book) ready on their table and try the task on the board during the register. After lunch the children should read quitely during the register.
We usually have PE on Tuesday and Thursday.
We do spelling practice and maths before break. Handwriting, punctuation & grammar and the main English lesson are between break and lunch.
We watch BBC Newsround before lunch so children have an opportunity to know, discuss and understand what is happening in the world around them.
Every Wednesday before maths we practise spellings creatively, where children have the opportunity to write out their spellings in interesting, unusual and colourful ways.
In the afternoons we do other curriculum subjects, such as Topic (incorporating history, geography and science), PE, RE or computing.
We have a spelling test every Friday. Spellings are sent home each week.
Homework (in homework books) is handed out on Friday to be handed in on Wednesday, giving time for it to be checked and the next homework prepared. If homework is handed in late it may not get marked in time before the next homework is handed out.
