PE & Sports Premium Update

Since the considerable increase in PE & Sports funding which was announced in 2017, a lot of investment is being made into sports teaching, provision and opportunities both inside and outside of school time. In recent years at Yaxham we have been able to ensure that:
  • P.E. resources are regularly updated
  • Staff have access to lesson plans, curriculum mapping and assessment tools through online planning tools.
  • Children have opportunities to try a variety of sports attending events as well as taking part in activities and accessing clubs in school.
  • Training is in place for P.E. Leadership and other staff responsible providing a legacy by improving the teaching of P.E. and encouraging active lifestyles.
  • For the years 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 the school employed a PE Apprentice, supporting activity throughout the school day. Trained through the School Sports Partnership to achieve an NVQ Level 3, enabling apprentices to continue their education by training to degree level.

To encourage all children to take part in healthy exercise we are committed to :
  • Extending the range of clubs led by both staff and specialist teachers.
  • Carrying out regular surveys and take part in discussions with children to ensure their interests are catered for where possible.
  • Working with outside agencies who will come in to deliver teaching for children about healthy lifestyles as well as providing regular opportunities for taster days and clubs to encourage children to keep active and healthy outside of school.
